The Archives
What is remembered, survives.
Welcome to The Inbetween Archives.
This is where the official story becomes significantly less official.
Inside you’ll find classified SID files, character dossiers, recovered communications, Cult propaganda, bonus fiction, historical records, questionable annotations and material that certain members of Ghost Command would very much prefer remained sealed.
It did not remain sealed.
Obviously.
Choose your clearance before proceeding.
What have you read?
Spoilers increase rapidly once you leave the public corridors.
Pick the option that matches where you are in the series.
I haven’t finished Hard Parole
CLEARANCE 0
You are new, innocent and largely unspoiled.
Enjoy this fleeting period of your life.
Your access includes introductory files, spoiler-safe character material and the public Archives.
[ENTER CLEARANCE 0]
I finished Hard Parole
CLEARANCE 1
Congratulations.
You now know enough to understand why several government agencies would prefer you didn’t.
Files relating to the events and revelations of Hard Parole are now considered safe.
Mostly.
[ENTER CLEARANCE 1]
I finished Conditional Release
CLEARANCE 2
You have encountered the Void.
Possibly the Cult.
Almost certainly Shade.
We apologise for none of these things.
Your Archive access now includes material containing spoilers through Conditional Release.
[ENTER CLEARANCE 2]
I finished Flight Risk
CLEARANCE 3
Ghost Command has regrouped.
Your understanding of reality has not necessarily survived the experience.
Most existing Archive material is now safe for you to browse.
“Safe” refers exclusively to spoilers.
SID accepts no responsibility for anything else.

CLEARANCE 4+
Oh.
You’re one of those people.
Excellent.
Current-series spoilers are no longer our problem.

SID NOTICE
Clearance levels are based on the furthest main-series novel you have completed.
Side stories may carry their own additional spoiler warnings.
If you ignore a warning and discover something you weren’t meant to know yet, please do not file a complaint.
We warned you.
In unusually large lettering.
What’s in the Archives?
SID Files
Officially, none of this exists.
Strategic Intelligence Division reports, internal memoranda, recovered briefings, operational records and other material produced by people who use the phrase need to know far too enthusiastically.
Expect:
- classified reports,
- mission files,
- redactions,
- institutional lies,
- occasionally useful facts,
- and Geist attempting to maintain some semblance of information security.
It is not going well.
Personnel Dossiers
Know your ghosts.
Personnel records, character dossiers and background files for the people inhabiting The Inbetween Archives.
- Ghost Command.
- Their allies.
- Their enemies.
- Their families.
- The people unfortunate enough to work with them.
- And several individuals whose precise classification remains under debate.
Each dossier carries its own spoiler clearance.
Because finding out somebody’s favourite drink is harmless.
Finding out whether they’re alive six years later is rather less so.
[VIEW PERSONNEL DOSSIERS]
Cult Dispatches
You are not alone. You are merely awakening.
The Void Cult has its own interpretation of events.
SID would like it formally recorded that this interpretation is frequently:
- inaccurate,
- heretical,
- unhelpful,
- deeply irritating,
- or Shade.
Sometimes all five.
Recovered initiation documents, Cult communications, theological fragments, propaganda and other transmissions can be found here.
Participation remains voluntary.
Probably.

Ghost Command Files
Six operatives. One terrible precedent.
Records relating specifically to the original Ghost Command:
- Wraith.
- Shade.
- Geist.
- Spirit.
- Phantom.
- Spook.
Mission history.
Team records.
Recovered communications.
Personal material.
Historical files.
And evidence that “professional military unit” became an increasingly optimistic description as the years progressed.
If you’re particularly attached to any of them, proceed with caution.
Which is to say: proceed.

Bonus Fiction
The main books aren’t the whole story.
Some stories don’t belong in a full novel.
Some happen in the spaces between missions.
Some belong to characters who looked at the central plot and wisely decided to cause problems elsewhere.
This section contains bonus fiction, short stories and other narrative files from around the Inbetween Archives universe.
Every story clearly indicates where it fits and what you should have read first.
Because spoilers are bad.
Emotional devastation is permitted.
[READ BONUS FICTION]
Archive Files
Reports from elsewhere in the universe.
News.
Fragments.
Recovered transmissions.
In-world documents.
Historical records.
Strange incidents.
Things that don’t belong neatly anywhere else.
Some are important.
Some are ridiculous.
Some will become important approximately three books after you forgot they existed.
You have been warned.

He’s beginning to wonder whether this was a mistake.

A word about canon
Material in the Archives falls broadly into three categories:
STORY CANON
Material that forms part of the fictional history of The Inbetween Archives.
IN-UNIVERSE DOCUMENTS
Files presented from the perspective of SID, the Cult, Ghost Command or other people and institutions inside the universe.
They may be incomplete.
Biased.
Incorrect.
Deliberately misleading.
Welcome to intelligence work.
AUTHOR MATERIAL
Behind-the-scenes commentary, extras and information from AJ Pryor.
Generally more trustworthy.
Not universally.
Archive protocol
Before opening a file: Check the clearance.
Before believing a file: Check who wrote it.
Should you trust Geist: Honestly, that’s situational.
Should you trust Shade: Absolutely not.
Should you ignore them: Also probably unwise.
You’ll figure it out.
Welcome to the Archives
There are stories here that governments buried.
Names people tried to erase.
Memories somebody fought to keep.
And a family that has proved remarkably difficult to kill.
Some files explain the past.
Some point toward what’s coming.
Some should never have been recovered.
Open whichever one calls to you.
Just remember:
What is remembered, survives.
