Privacy Policy
Last updated: 22 August 2026
Your privacy matters.
This website exists to tell you about my books, let you read Hard Parole, access The Inbetween Archives, and, if you choose, to receive emails from me.
I am not interested in collecting data for the sake of collecting data.
I do not sell personal information.
I do not rent it.
I do not use it to build advertising profiles.
I do not use third-party advertising trackers.
And I will not use information you give me for purposes you did not reasonably agree to.
This policy explains the limited information that may be processed when you use this website.
Who is responsible for your information?
This website and mailing list are operated by:
AJ Pryor
Author of The Inbetween Archives
Website: theinbetweenarchives.com
For privacy questions, requests or concerns, you can contact me through the Comms page or at:
aj@theinbetweenarchives.com
For data-protection purposes, I am the person responsible for deciding how personal information collected through this website and mailing list is used.
What information do I collect?
If you browse the website
You do not need to provide personal information simply to browse the website or read Hard Parole online.
Like most websites, the hosting platform and underlying technical services may automatically process limited technical information required to deliver and secure the site, such as:
- IP address
- browser or device type
- date and time of access
- requested pages
- basic server or security logs
I do not use this information to identify you personally or create a profile about you.
I do not use advertising or cross-site behavioural tracking.
If you join the mailing list
If you voluntarily subscribe to the mailing list, I collect:
- your email address
- your name, if you choose to provide it
- any subscription preferences you actively select
I use this information only to send you the content you signed up for, which may include:
- new-release news
- bonus fiction
- Archive material
- book updates
- behind-the-scenes content
- occasional promotional information about my books
Your subscription is based on your consent.
You can withdraw that consent at any time by clicking Unsubscribe at the bottom of any mailing-list email.
Consent should be freely given, specific and easy to withdraw, which is also the approach required under GDPR.
Mailing-list provider
I use MailerLite to manage my subscriber list and send emails.
This means your email address and any information you provide through the signup form are processed by MailerLite on my behalf.
MailerLite acts as a data processor for subscriber information and provides tools for managing consent, unsubscribing and deletion.
https://www.mailerlite.com/legal/privacy-policy
I do not sell or provide my mailing list to other businesses for their own marketing.
Ebook and bonus-content delivery
I use BookFunnel to deliver ebooks and bonus digital content.
If you choose to download a book through BookFunnel, BookFunnel may process information necessary to provide that service, such as your email address and technical information relating to your device or download.
That information is handled according to BookFunnel’s own privacy practices.
https://bookfunnel.com/privacy/
I use BookFunnel only to deliver the content you requested and provide related reader support.
Contacting me
If you use the website’s contact form, I may receive:
- your name
- your email address
- the subject of your enquiry
- anything you choose to include in your message
I use that information only to read and respond to your enquiry, keep any correspondence reasonably necessary to manage it, and comply with legal obligations where applicable.
Using the contact form does not automatically add you to the mailing list.
Cookies
I do not use cookies for advertising or cross-site behavioural tracking.
Some limited cookies or similar technologies may be used by the website platform or service providers where technically necessary for things such as:
- security
- site functionality
- embedded forms
- preventing abuse
- delivering requested services
MailerLite may also use cookies, unique identifiers or similar technologies as part of providing its service.
Where consent is legally required for a non-essential cookie, it should not be used without that consent.
Email tracking
My goal is to use email only to communicate with readers who have asked to hear from me.
I do not use subscriber information for advertising profiling or automated decision-making.
If email-performance features such as basic delivery, open or link statistics are enabled by the mailing platform, they are used only to understand whether the mailing list is functioning effectively—not to create individual behavioural profiles.
I do not sell your information
Very simply:
I do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.
Information is shared only with service providers where necessary to operate the website, manage the mailing list, deliver requested books or content, respond to enquiries, maintain security, or comply with the law.
Those providers process information under their own legal and privacy obligations.
How long do I keep your information?
Mailing list
Subscriber information is kept while you remain subscribed.
If you unsubscribe, you will stop receiving marketing emails.
A limited record may be retained where necessary to make sure your unsubscribe request continues to be respected or where the law requires it.
Contact enquiries
Messages may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to answer the enquiry or maintain relevant business records.
Technical information
Technical logs are retained according to the normal security and operational practices of the website and hosting providers.
I do not intentionally retain personal data longer than necessary for the reason it was collected.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, applicable privacy laws may give you rights over your personal information.
These may include the right to:
- know what personal information is held about you
- request access to it
- correct inaccurate information
- request deletion
- object to certain processing
- restrict certain processing
- withdraw consent
- request your information in a portable format where applicable
- complain to the relevant data-protection authority
To exercise any of these rights, contact:
aj@theinbetweenarchives.com
I will only ask for enough information to confirm that I am dealing with the correct person.
International data processing
Some of the services used to operate this website and mailing list may process information in other countries.
For example, MailerLite states that subscriber information for customers outside the EEA may be processed through its US entity, with international-transfer safeguards including mechanisms such as Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where applicable.
Third-party providers are responsible for maintaining the appropriate safeguards required by applicable data-protection law.
Data security
I take reasonable steps to protect personal information and use established third-party services rather than maintaining my own subscriber database or ebook-delivery infrastructure.
No internet-based system can guarantee absolute security.
If a legally reportable security incident affects personal information, I will follow the notification requirements that apply. Under POPIA, security compromises involving personal information carry notification obligations to the Information Regulator and affected data subjects.
Children’s privacy
This website and mailing list are intended for a general adult readership.
I do not knowingly collect personal information from children for marketing purposes.
If you believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate permission, please contact me and I will address it.
Links to other websites
The website may link to retailers, social media platforms, BookFunnel or other third-party services.
Once you leave this website, that service’s own privacy policy and practices apply.
I am not responsible for how independent third-party websites handle information you provide directly to them.
Changes to this policy
If the way I handle personal information changes, I may update this page.
The current revision date will always appear at the top.
I will not quietly expand the use of mailing-list information into something substantially different from what you originally agreed to without obtaining any consent required by law.
The short version
If you skipped everything above:
If you give me your email because you want book news and bonus content, I’ll use it to send you book news and bonus content.
I won’t sell it.
I won’t rent it.
I won’t build an advertising profile about you.
You can unsubscribe whenever you want.
And if you’d like me to tell you what information I have, correct it or delete it, just ask.
Seems reasonable.
