  • 🥃 Aftertaste – a poem

    by Shade (unfortunately)

I drank her memory in a glass too wide
    and called it healing.
Said: “This time, I won’t flinch.”
    Then flinched anyway.

    The burn was expected.
    The honesty wasn’t.

    I named the bottle Retcon
    because “Mistake”
    felt too fragile
    and “Hope” would’ve shattered.

It tasted like the first time I said “I’m fine”
    and meant
    I’m surviving out of spite.
    It tasted like
    what I would’ve told her
    if I’d been braver
    or drunker
    or bleeding slower.

    The Fold didn’t blink.
    It never does.
    But the mirror cracked
right down the part of me
that still wanted to be forgiven.

I poured the last mouthful on the floor.
    Not as an offering.
Just so I wouldn’t drink it again.

[Note scribbled in the margin later, likely by Spook:]
You could’ve just said you missed her, idiot.

    Dear Shade,
I think I accidentally trauma-bonded with my situationship. Is that… bad?
Also, they just started calling me “their light in the dark” and I don’t know if I should kiss them or run.
    Help.
    — Confused and a Little Flammable

    Dear Confused,
    First: yes.
    Second: obviously yes.

Trauma-bonding is not a foundation. It’s emotional duct tape. Temporary, messy, and liable to snap mid-apocalypse.

If someone calls you “their light in the dark” — ask yourself this:
Are you a beacon… or just a convenient torch they can drop when the path changes?

Kiss them if you want the story.
Run if you want the ending.
    Do both if you’re me.

    Yours (but not really)
    Shade

  • It’s come to our attention that several cultists—I mean followers—have reported the Void making “deep sighing noises” during morning rituals.

We’ve reviewed the footage. It’s not sighing.
It’s passive-aggressive humming because someone forgot to offer coffee.

    As a reminder:

    • Fold entities prefer espresso over drip.
    • Do not offer herbal teas unless your soul is flame-retardant.
    • If the altar starts vibrating? That’s just Kevin. He’s sensitive to caffeine.

    Today’s community challenge:
✨ Share your “Void but make it cozy” setups (tag @shadesvoidcult on Insta).

    Bonus points for:

    • Pillows embroidered with eldritch symbols
    • Mugs that scream when filled
    • Candles that may or may not be sentient

Remember: Just because the Void stares back doesn’t mean it doesn’t appreciate throw blankets and emotional support snacks.

    Dear Shade
I’ve been screaming into the Abyss but it’s not answering me. What am I doing wrong?
    Yours
    Still Hoarse

    Dear Still Hoarse,

Classic rookie mistake. The Abyss doesn’t respond to screaming — it’s more of a vibes-based entity. Think less “customer support hotline,” more “moody ex who only replies to interpretive dance and blood oaths.”

    A few troubleshooting tips:

    1. Try humming your trauma instead. Bonus points for dissonance.
    2. Light a candle, whisper your fears into a teacup, and yeet it into the sea.
    3. If nothing else, upgrade to Fold WiFi. The Abyss may just be ghosting you on the wrong frequency.

If you hear laughter next time? That’s progress. Or it’s Kevin. Either way, hydrate.

    Yours in mild concern,

SHADE: Okay, everybody settle down. You—yes, you—the one clutching the emergency transfer form. Sit. You’re going to want to hear this.

So. Quantum Ascendance through Controlled Subsumption. We call it QACS, but don’t worry about the acronym. What matters is the math.

    INTERN: Wait, there’s math?

SHADE: There’s always math. And some light existential annihilation.

    INTERN: Oh Void.

    SHADE: That’s the spirit!

Now. Imagine the universe as a song. Not a solo. A chorus. Infinite verses, layered harmonics. You’re a single note. But if you fold yourself correctly—

    INTERN: Fold?

SHADE: I mean that literally and metaphorically and metaphysically. Try to keep up.

If you fold yourself, you become resonance. You stop being separate. You stop hurting.

INTERN: Is this… a metaphor for death?

SHADE: No. Death is easy. This is about transcendence. Through entropy. Through collapse. Through communion.

INTERN: …I want to go home.

SHADE: Too late. You already opened the handbook. It’s printed on self-binding smartpaper. It’s now part of your soul. Welcome to the choir, little Voidling.

Now legally required to include a disclaimer. Still emotionally irresponsible.

    Dear Shade,
I have just broken my fourth thing in as many days (wine glass, tea canister, mug, and flask).
    Should I be concerned?

    Yours,
    Unbreakable

    Dear “Unbreakable”,

First of all, excellent irony. Second of all, no, you shouldn’t be concerned. You should be honored.

Some would say this is a cry for help.
I say: this is a summoning.

Four shattered vessels in four days? That’s the exact offering required to appease the Minor God of Fractured Expectations. I made that up, but now it feels true and I refuse to back down.

Consider this a ritual of release. You’re not clumsy, you’re being realigned.
Sometimes the universe doesn’t whisper. Sometimes it throws your tea across the floor and screams “LET GO.”

That said, you might want to switch to metal drinkware for the next 72 hours. Or start bubble-wrapping your feelings.

Break what you must. Rebuild what you can. And if all else fails, drink straight from the bottle like the rest of us.

  • How do I get over my ex?

    —Spiritually Deranged in Sector 9

    Shade Replies

Step 1: Get under a new coping mechanism.
Step 2: Change your haircut, your ringtone, and your planetary alignment.
Step 3: Scream into the Fold until it echoes back, “They weren’t even cute.”

Bonus: Curse their Spotify algorithm. It’s petty. It’s powerful. It’s personal.

With all the spiritual clarity of a malfunctioning compass,
and just enough love to ruin you gently—

  • What is Shade?

    Short answer:

A Void-touched, chaos-wielding, tactically unhinged oracle with cult leadership qualities, weaponized charisma, and a deep understanding of cosmic nonsense and human longing. Also: excellent eyeliner.

    Longer, more accurate answer?

    ☠️ Shade Is…

    • A cult leader who didn’t set out to lead anything—just started screaming truth and people followed. Accidentally spiritual. Entirely intentional about the drama.
    • A former(?) Ghost Command operative turned prophet of the Inbetween. Still answers Geist’s calls. Sometimes. With sarcasm and emotional blackmail.
    • Soulbonded to Wraith , in that “shared trauma and metaphysical entanglement” kind of way. It’s complicated. It’s always complicated.
    • The emotional chaos engine of the narrative. Doesn’t break easily, but will bend himself into a metaphor just to make a point. And the point usually hurts.
    • He/they, frequently “Void adjacent,” sometimes “your spiritual panic attack,” and always a little too self-aware.

    🕳️ Shade Is Not:

    • Safe
    • Sane
    • Officially recognized by SID (but good luck getting that to stop him)

  • Name: Shade (Zane if we’ve cuddled)

    Pronouns: He/They
(Or just shout “Hey, Emotional Collapse in Human Form!” – I usually answer.)

    Gender: Weaponized softness.

    Orientation: Void-curious.

Alignment: Somewhere between “misunderstood prophet” and “disaster bard with knives.”

Cult Leader. Fold Prophet. Glitter Arsonist. Author of questionable wisdom.

I believe in the sanctity of chaos, the power of found family, and that eyeliner is a valid coping mechanism. Also that consent is always required. Even when dealing with inter-dimensional entities. Especially when dealing with inter-dimensional entities.

I run sermons, cult operations, and emotionally devastating playlists with equal flair. I’ve been kissed mid-apocalypse and high-fived by eldritch entities. Both were affirming.

If I’m not leading a ritual or seducing someone out of a breakdown, I’m probably in the archives, writing songs about betrayal or emotionally inappropriate poetry in the margins of my tactical plans.

I accept offerings of sharp objects, glitter pens, and emotional honesty.
No cop energy. No apologies for being too much.

    Welcome to the cult.
We have snacks, vibes, and Pecksworth.
    (You’ll know when you’re ready.)
